Subtlety…
So this weekend I had the great pleasure of watching, in 3D no less, what I have determined to be the best movie I’ve seen yet this year. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that Alice in Wonderland was possibly one of Burton’s best films. Maybe that’s coming from a love for art and interesting location designs and creatures, but my jaw was glued to the floor through most of the movie. I’m speaking metaphorically of course…. No piece of my face would ever venture near the floor of a movie theater. God only knows what horrible amalgam of syrupy beverages and popcorn glazing have combined to produce the horrible epoxy that coats that surface!
Anyway, the story was great, the character were better and the final battle with the Jaberwocky could have been captured in resin, painted and displayed proudly in any comicbook shop! Sooooo good! This was actually the first time I got to see one of the “real 3d” movies and I have to say that the visual effect was neat, and certainly added to the surreal atmosphere of this particular movie… but I wouldn’t want to watch every movie that way. Especially because the glasses made me look like a retarded Buddy Holly…
In conclusion: Go see that movie!!

Fabo movie. i do agree. the art in that movie was TOP NOTCH. i loved it from beginning to end. i loved the juxtaposition of the party all prestine and white and fluffy and then the immediate dark and dank world you venture into with alice. the story was beautifully told. the characters all had a sense of depth. it was just awesomegasmic to say the least. i was like a kid watching a movie for the VERY first time!! i totally agree about the specs though they need a better design. the frames give me a headache.
