2008 Knight Rider review…

So I just watched the first episode of the new Knight Rider series… where to begin. First of all the new Kit is a Ford Mustang GT Cobra and it is definitely a really sweet ride. The virtual HUD that Kit can display across his windshield is pretty awesome as well… But that is pretty much where the good stuff ends.

I’m not sure if the writers of this show truly realize just how stupid they believe the average Television watcher really is… but the absolute bullshit they are expecting their potential fans to swallow is astronomical! Apparently now Kit can transform from a Mustang, to a Pickup Truck and a “suped-up” version they call “Attack Mode.” Yeah so these guys seem to think Kit is a cheap transformer Knock off or something. But Kit seems pretty believable when you hold it against the rest of the show.

The Acting in this show is just this side of an elementary school production of Peter Pan. The atrocious dialogue is paired with the cast’s almost uniformly unrealistic reactions to situations and complete lack of depth of character. I am almost positive that the cast finds the show as unbelievable as the audience does. There was a scene in the show where Michael and his female costar are in the car which is covered in some kind of SUPER NAPALM that can’t be extinguished ( even with Kit driving at 377 mph ) and the internal temperature is climbing past 140 degrees Celsius… and there is barely a drop of sweat on either of them… that doesn’t stop Micheal’s love interest from suggesting they remove their clothes however…. Obviously a lame attempt at adding sexual tension between the characters… funny thing is that it doesn’t work… And as the temperature pushes past 150… still no sweat…. When the fire actually IS extinguished the rescue team rushes in and pops open Kit’s still pristine doors ( which are now miraculously cool enough to touch ) to save the half naked duo. More stuff happens after this that is equally ridiculous but I’ll save you the pain of having to listen to it.

This show is quite literally an insult to my intelligence… everything about is just completely impossible to accept… and trust me I was willing to suspend my disbelief on this one, I really was… but there is only so far that I can go. If you haven’t seen this show please do yourself a favor and don’t waste an hour of your life on it… Do something more constructive… like digging a hole in your backyard and filling it in again. I don’t understand how people gave these people money to produce this steaming pile of crap…. Guys, if you really want to just give money away I would be happy to oblige… No really… anytime, just send me a cheque.

Knight Rider, what a waste of time…unless you enjoy vomiting in your mouth while you watch TV…

Wow, I was flipping through channels a few nights ago and I watched that EXACT scene, just the scene where they are in the car and it’s on super fire! From what I saw, it sounds like you are bang on with this review.

I had no idea that was Knight Rider, I wasn’t even anticipating the show, but I remember stopping to just watch how lame it was. Not only were they trapped in the fire car, but they kept cutting back to the control room that was monitoring there danger level, and at one point, an older actor pulled someone aside to say “that’s my daughter in there!” My first thought was “I doubt it.” How crazy that I stumbled across that, then saw it on you post… small world.

I’ve been noticing that a lot lately in random clips of shows I’ve seen. For example, in an episode of Fringe there’s some kind of Vulcan mind meld thing going on, but for it to succeed the main characteress must be stripped to her skivvies, covered in probes and dunked in one of those sensory deprivation tanks. The guy she’s melding with is on a table inside some really large open MRI, from what I can tell. WTF?

I’m guessing that making things needlessly louder has stopped garnering more attention, and senseless, graphic violence is losing its punch, so they’re abusing nudity as best they can now by giving any “rationalization” (no matter how irrational) to bare skin.

Yeah I totally agree…. Star Trek Enterprise was even guilty of multiple counts of this! It seems like producers think the average TV watcher is a depraved sex maniac that needs to see the entire cast naked at least once a month. Now don’t get me wrong… There is no problem with sex being used in a show as long as it is a PLOT DEVICE, and that doesn’t just apply to sex. There is nothing worse or more insulting to me then having to sit through some random scene of violence, sex or whatever that has just been thrown into the show cause a producer said “Ya know what this show needs?! More ____!” Yeah…. cause they’d know. It’s sad really. There are really well made shows out there though. I just hoped that Knight Rider was gonna be one…. (I’m not sure why)

Simple; you glued yourself to the TV to watch David Hasselhoff fight crime when you were younger. I wanted the new series to be good as well, but had no expectations it would be after watching the made-for-TV movie.

It’s still a disappointment. I wish I were eight and easily entertained again.

This is true, I was really into shows like Knight Rider and Air Wolf when I was younger… I guess I was just hoping to be able to relive those days…

Sounds like you have yourself a story line idea! Of course, if you’re anything like me your issue is probably time and not ideas.
